What is the purpose of this website?

This site is dedicated to engaging the residents of London, Ontario in local civic issues. Our blog offers a range of blog articles that cover municipal council matters that impact our community. We aim to educate you on these topics and encourage your involvement.

The blog page includes the ability to filter blog articles by category or tags. Additionally, the sidebar includes a list of categories and tags. By clicking on one of them it will also filter them. Perhaps we may missed an issue that you were looking for. Email us at londoncouncilwatch@gmail.com and suggest a topic. Please include a description of the issue and approximately when the council or committee meeting happened.

Yes. You can contribute with only a few hours a month and volunteer efforts can be tailored to your interests. Volunteering is a great way to connect with the community and make a difference. If you’re interested, please see more details on our volunteer page.

Do you organize events?

We currently do not have plans to organize any events. We are a new volunteer group and are focused on organizing manageable and sustainable content. We may consider organizing or attending events in the future if our volunteer group expands.

Email us at londoncouncilwatch@gmail.com and provide a description of the issue, when it was discussed at council or a committee meeting. Provide details of why it was important to you or the community. These helps us learn and adjust content and categories in the future.

There are no fees and our content can be reposted freely.

Are you an existing group that wishes to collaborate? We are still exploring how London Council Watch evolves but we would entertain possible opportunities with groups that have a vision of greater civic engagement.

All posts, including archive posts, have also been uploaded to Substack. See links in the footer on any page on the website. We post any new content to all of the social media accounts we are on (BlueSky, Substack, Instagram, Facebook).

You can find the minutes of council meetings on the City of London website under the ‘Council and committee meetings’ section.

They are usually posted a week after the meeting.

There are many great groups in London that advocate for different issues. We may add content in the future listing some of these. We strongly encourage you to start somewhere. Find the intersection of what you are passionate about, what you are good at and what needs to be done.

The next election is October 26,2026. London is divided into 14 wards. One city councillor is elected to represent each ward, plus a city-wide elected Mayor, forming a 15-member council. We will add more basic explainer content in the future or link to other groups in London that provide this information.
